Putting Father's Day Into Biblical Perspective

Understanding God as our Abba helps us better understand the purpose of honoring our earthly fathers. This 1-minute devotion explains. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

God is called Father only 15 times in the Old Testament, but 165 times in the Gospels.

Using the Aramaic word Abba, Jesus deepened our understanding of intimacy and relationship with God.

God didn’t change. He has always been a loving Father. But Jesus revealed His Father's character more fully.(1)

Jesus explained our need to be deeply dependent on the Father, asking Him for our physical and spiritual needs (Lord’s Prayer).

He demonstrated the Father’s immeasurable love in His sacrifice on the cross for our sake (John 3:16; 1 John 3:1).  Wow!

God reveals Himself in ways that we can understand, and that’s why He calls Himself a Father.

"Because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, 'Abba, Father.'" Galatians 4:6

This Father’s Day, let's honor our Heavenly Father who loves us perfectly. And let's honor our imperfect earthly fathers because our Perfect Father commands it (Ephesians 6:2-3).
